This amazingly creamy mac n’ cheese kicks it up a notch with an irresistible parmesan garlic cheese sauce topped with buttery breadcrumbs!
After this past Thanksgiving I got a TON of messages asking for my macaroni and cheese recipe so here we are! This recipe is relatively easy and perfect for holidays, potlucks or barbecues. The best part is you can upgrade this recipe by adding a protein of some kind (bacon or chicken), jalapeño if you want a little kick, or feel free to change up the cheeses you use.
Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be one of those recipes where I make you read 3 pages worth of nonsense before getting to the good stuff, so let’s just jump right in!
OVERVIEW:
- Boil the pasta until it’s al dente, drain & rinse lightly with cold water
- Sauté the breadcrumbs in butter until they start to brown
- Make your rue sauce
- Add cheeses & noodles
- Top with breadcrumbs & broil
- Stuff your face with garlicky deliciousness
If you’re looking for a way to make this lower in calories you can swap out the macaroni for chickpea noodles, switch out full-fat for skim milk or low-fat mozzarella is also an option.
*for some extra cheesy goodness, the remaining parmesan cheese can be added to the breadcrumb topping before it goes in the oven!
